Building More Than Just Homes: A Story of Resilience in Lakeland
Mar 06, 2026At Polk County Window and Door, our work has never really been about building structures; it has always been about the people inside those homes. We are incredibly fortunate to grow our business here in Lakeland, and we know that our success is a direct result of the trust this community places in us every day. Because this community supports us, we believe it is our responsibility to support you in return.
Recently, we had the privilege of meeting Brooke and Josh Walker, a local family whose story of resilience and faith touched our hearts deeply.
Turning Challenges into Hope
When Brooke and Josh moved into what they thought was their “dream home,” they did everything right. But shortly after moving in, a “domino effect” of mold discovery stripped their home down to the studs. For a family with an immunocompromised son, this was more than a renovation nightmare; it was a health crisis.
What struck us most wasn’t the damage to the house, but the character of the family. Despite the devastation, Brooke and Josh remained hopeful. They leaned on their faith and the outpouring of love they received from the Lakeland community, choosing to turn a crisis into a journey toward making their house a safe, forever home.
Giving Back Because of You
We believe that when a business succeeds, success should be shared. We didn’t want to just watch from the sidelines. We had the honor of sitting down with Brooke and Josh to let them know that Polk County Window and Door wanted to help. We are gifting them all the exterior doors for their home installation, and we are donating all the interior doors as well.
We are only able to give back like this because you choose us for your windows and doors. You make it possible for us to be a company that puts our community first.
We Are All in This Together
To Brooke and Josh: Thank you for your strength. You have reminded us of all that a home is more than just walls and a roof. It’s a place of safety, faith, and community.
To our customers and neighbors: Thank you. Every project you trust us with helps us stay in a position where we can step up when our community needs a hand. This isn’t just our gift; it’s a gift from the entire Polk County community.
